The Custom-Shape Recessed Manhole Cover breaks away from standard squares and rectangles. Designed for projects where ground geometry is curved, irregular, or architecturally expressive, this solution provides an invisible access cover in virtually any two-dimensional shape – circles, ellipses, arcs, trapezoids, polygons, sweeping organic curves, or even logos and emblems.

The split-type structure is retained: a precisely fabricated support frame (stainless steel, galvanised steel, or aluminium) follows the required perimeter, while the recessed lid is shaped identically and filled with matching ground material or left with custom engraving / branding. From heritage plazas with radial paving to modern art installations with bespoke cover patterns, our engineering team turns unique shapes into fully functional, load-rated access covers. What Can Be Customised – Unlimited Parameters

Shape geometry: Any closed polygon (3 to 20+ sides), circle, ellipse, sector, arc-ended rectangle, free-form curve (DXF or DWG input), symmetrical or asymmetrical.
Size range: Minimum 200mm clear span – maximum 2500mm in any dimension. Larger shapes are possible by segmenting (multi-panel interlocking covers).
Frame & lid material: Stainless steel 304 / 316, hot-dip galvanised mild steel, aluminium 6061, or duplex / Corten on request.
Material thickness: 1.5mm up to 8.0mm, selected based on load rating and shape geometry.
Load rating: A15, B125, C250, D400 (EN124/DIN or custom client standard). Even curved shapes can be engineered to pass D400 proof load testing.
Infill type: Concrete, resin-bound gravel, natural stone veneer, pavers, glass beads, LED-embedded translucent resin (for illuminated logos).
Surface detailing: Engraved text, raised or recessed logos, radial score lines, non-slip pattern, colour powder coating, brushed directional finish.
Drainage integration: Fully solid (no drainage), slotted pattern following shape contours, perforated zones limited to certain areas, or no slots at all.
Lifting mechanism: Concealed keyholes (penta / triangle), flush pull rings, magnetic lifting points, or remote release pins for security covers.
Hinge system: Free-lift split type, or heavy-duty hinge on one side (for safety or ease of use).
Edge detailing: Chamfered, radiused, or knife-edge rim to match stone coping.

We analyse stress distribution around curved perimeters, adding hidden ribs or local thickening where needed. The result: a cover that fits perfectly and performs like a standard square cover – even under traffic.

No minimum order quantity for one-off shapes

Single prototype covers are welcome. For heritage or boutique projects, we make exactly what you need, not what is stocked.

Digital verification before production

We provide 3D laser scanning or CAD verification, including a dry-assembly video for complex multi-piece sets. You see the cover in virtual space before metal is cut.

Same infill + concealment principle

Despite any external shape, the recessed lid still accepts pavement material, making the cover invisible when finished. Only the shape follows your ground design.

Full testing & certification

Load testing can be witnessed at our facility. We provide EN124 certification reports for custom shapes that pass the relevant test regime.

Our engineers will advise on material selection, load rating feasibility, and manufacturing method (laser cutting, robotic welding, press forming).
We produce samples, refine the fit, and deliver final covers with installation guides. For recurring shapes, we can keep a digital file on hand for future reorders.
There is no shape too unusual, no detail too fine. The only limit is the pit opening below – and we can often advise on modifying that too.
